ABOUT ME
Homegrown on the island of Oahu, I have had the opportunity to work with various people, cultures, and individuals. Because of this, I have learned and developed exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. I am a person that strives to turn my work into reality. I am creative, a problem solver, but most importantly, I am continually evolving and improving myself. My name is Malakai Shiraki, and I will do everything in my power to get the job done.

The Asia-Pacific Career Conference allows students the professional development and exposure they need to prepare for life after BYU–Hawaii. By connecting students to international organizations, we can expand the university’s influence on workplaces worldwide, providing graduates with sustainable work opportunities everywhere. We helped to rebrand APCC to increase the outreach and effectiveness of the conference

VBP COLLABORATION
The Virtual Business Professional (VBP) is a six-week project that gives students real-world experience using communication and collaboration technologies employed in today’s corporate environment. Using a state-of-the-art social collaboration platform that is powered by Artificial Intelligence, students plan and hold virtual meetings, collaboratively conduct research, co-author documents, and use project management tools.

TOMODACHI GENERATION
The TOMODACHI Initiative is a public-private partnership, born out of support for Japan’s recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, that invests in the next generation of Japanese and American leaders through educational and cultural exchanges as well as leadership programs.
November 2016 - November 2018
CHURCH VOLUNTEER
Every week consisted of: organizing community service projects, directing and teaching TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) class for students, and daily scheduling to maximize productivity. Lead groups of ten to twelve volunteers and conducted weekly training meetings, followed up on goals, and created weekly progress reports. During this time, developed leadership and conflict resolution skills while working with a diverse group of people in an unfamiliar culture.

RAINBOW FOR JAPAN KIDS
The Japan-American Society of Hawaii launched RAINBOW FOR JAPAN KIDS with the support of the First Hawaiian Bank, Japan Airlines, and Studio RIM Hawaii, and partnering with volunteer organizations from Tohoku, the U.S. Embassy in Japan, and the TOMODACHI Initiative. The program has brought Japanese children directly affected by the March 11, 2011 disaster to Hawaii for rest, recuperation, and physical/psychological relief since July 2011.
2012 - Present Day
EAGLE SCOUT
Conceptualized personal community service project, fundraised from local business, and lead 25+ volunteers over the course of 3 months in the renovation and beautification of an elementary school.
